Sven and Dewi Hasselmann are pleased to welcome you to the Menagerie Boarding Kennel and Cattery.
We are located in the sunny Eastern Bay of Plenty, 20 kilometres west of Whakatane, near the Awakeri Hot Springs and Holiday Park on State Highway 30.
Our pledge is to provide customers and their pets a service that is second to none.

Our Story
Established in 2014
Sven and Dewi Hasselmann have been operating this business since 2014. Before this they both worked in ” Human Hospitality Industry” And decided Dogs and Cats are their passion.
They pride themselves on providing a warm, clean, safe and comfortable environment for your pets to enjoy a holiday of their own while you are away.
They have both enjoyed working from home with their own little menagerie three dogs two cats and one bird luckily will be growing more.
Their home is just a five metre away from the main kennels entrance so they can monitor them 24/7 if needed.
You can book doggy daycare, kennels and cattery long and short term with us.
About the kennels:
Total we have 60 Medium/Large Kennels 20 small kennels and 12 great size of exercise yards.
We welcome all size/breeds of dogs or cats with any history and we believe we all deserve a second chance.
Understanding their needs and wants to build trust and a bond so both owner and pets can have a relaxing holiday.
Services
We Provide
Kennels
We have 60 medium / large dog kennels, 20 small dog kennels and 12 great sized exercise yards.
All dogs are exercised at least three times a day out in the grass yards.
Cattery
Our cattery is completely separate from the dog kennels, providing a more relaxed space, with sunny exercise areas, completely enclosed and escape proof.
Doggy Daycare
We offer a doggy day care service for those looking to give their pets some exercise and attention during the day, whilst they are busy working or doing other things. Please book doggy daycare in advance.
